Size Selection Tips

Selecting a size for double panel pop art can be a little bit tricky, especially if you’re going for one of the standard rectangle sizes, but with a few tips you shouldn’t have a problem. Remember that with two panels one direction is going to be doubled, depending on whether you want your panels stacked, or side by side. With square images, it’s easy to figure out the dimensions because no matter which way you arrange them the dimensions will be the same.

In this example of the side by side baby pop art, you can see that each panel is square. That means, if it is 10 inches tall, then it’s 20 inches wide. Now, if we were to arrange these so that they’re stacked, it would be 10 inches wide an 20 inches tall. Either way, you’d select 10x20 (or the equivilent 20x40) as your size.

Now, when you’re talking about rectangle images, it’s a little bit harder to figure out. If you want your pop art to be really wide and thin, like an 8x30 panoramic, then your original image should fit half of that width, or 15 in this case.

Most people, though, want fairly normal shaped pop art, like 16x24. The easiest way to make a 16x24 pop art piece with two panels is to use an image with the dimensions of 12x16 (landscape), stacked. This image on the left of the two dogs started off a little bit wider - about 8x12 (2:3 ratio, instead of 12x16’s 3:4 ratio) - but we were easily able to cut it down to size and fit it perfectly to a 16x24 crop. Remember, 16x24 also shares dimension equivilents with the 20x30 and 24x36 sizes.

When it comes to choosing a size, take the time to measure your image, and have in mind what you want the final product to look like. Remember, two panels means that one dimension of your original image, be it the width or the height, will be doubled. If you need help selecting a size, give us a call for a free consultation. Color Accents

Color accents are our way of lettting you add your own personal touch to the Pop Art our artists make from your image. In a double panel pop art piece, you can choose up to two color accents.

In this image, two color accents are being used - shades of green and shades of orangish-brown. The colors in the background never count as color accents, they're just included.

This example also has two color accents, but you’ll notice that it is unlike to two dogs. Here, the person ordering indicated that they wanted two parts of their image, in particular, highlighted: The hat, and the lips.. If there is a part of your image that you want to highlight, just indicate this in the notes field on your order form.
In this example, only one color accent is being used. The background colors, purple and yellow, are standard and the trees are accented. Two different colors are being used for the trees here, pink and green, but it is still only one accent.
